New Australian Artist at Tusk Gallery: Kerri Kerley

Kerri Kerley is the latest Australian artist to join Tusk Gallery! An artist for 28 years, Kerri’s career began in the advertising world, as a designer, typographer, and illustrator working with the well-respected Ken Done, and several major advertising agencies in Sydney for many years.

Whilst still based in Sydney now, it was when travelling the vast Australian outback and beautiful coast in a caravan with her two very young children that Kerri first discovered her true connection with this amazing country. Her paintings are an extension of that experience and it is through her paintings that she shapes their story. Each piece is carefully and individually crafted and layered until it is just right.

Her use of colour is inspired by her love of Australia’s intense, textural and earthy palette and lends itself perfectly to her style and medium, with drawing the foundation of all her work, she endeavours to convey feelings and emotions through the subject’s eyes, thereby engaging the viewer. Kerri works mostly using a combination of watercolour and pastel.

Painting is an emotional process for her and it is very personal. It is often difficult for Keri to put into words, however, it remains to be a constant exhilarating and spiritual journey of passion, perfection, and self-discovery. Kerri’s paintings are found in public and private collections both internationally and nationally.
